PLEASE SHARE: Another Alex Salmond scare story bites the dust. Its always awkward for the nationalists when the facts get in the way. In recent days the nationalists have tried to scare people into voting for independence by making misleading claims about our NHS. Here, ITV Border dismantles Alex Salmonds dishonest claims one by one. Our NHS is a good example of why we can have the best of both worlds for Scotland as part of the UK. Decisions about our health service are made here in Scotland by our own Scottish Parliament. But the burden of paying for health care here is spread across an economy of more than 63 million people in the UK, rather than just five million people in Scotland. The real risk to our NHS comes from independence. The impartial experts at the Institute for Fiscal Studies (IFS) have said that a separate Scotland would need to make cuts worth £6 billion in the first few years, over and above anything happening today. Thats a risk we just dont have to take. Say No Thanks on 18 September so that we can protect our NHS in Scotland.
