PLEASE SHARE EVERYONE, Great way to introduce a new dog into your home.... - waiting til he is calm before getting out of car... (park a few blocks away so he is led by person as pack leader to new home as destination -- mimics nature & helps them feel secure & adjust better... the other dog can meet a few blocks away & pack walk together before mtg ea other) proper mtg ppl: sit/squat sideways, no talk /no touch/ no eye contact... if needed, patient leashing (w/ treats as needed) use leash as affection 1st once hes calm (UNDER chin /not top of head) ... wait til he participates - can put on & off several times to desensitize & not trap/trick him walking them on neutral ground together before sniffing each other helps. No dogs in front of ppl. New dog in back of pack. No tension held on leash -- once calm: sniff from behind, new dog sniffs 2nd to show deference.... new dog staying on leash in yard or home helps show respect. ppl thru doorways 1st, new dog thru last boundaries not full access to whole house for few weeks - helps him feel secure & show respect for few weeks: simple area for sleeping, potty & walks & feeding routines... wait till calm before leashing/walks, before feeding, or petting dont greet when coming home, dont pet when excited, only when calm... all helps send consistent message for dogs to feel calm & secure...
