I will follow up on transparency later this evening.): but I feel that many of these concerns are misleading and have reasonable explanations if explored further. What are these reasonable explanations you believe are being mislead? ANSWER: Let me touch on 1 item specifically that really stands out to me when I read through the letter that was included with our most recent water bill. “A few HOUSEHOLDS will see significant changes as they were being billed with a decimal place error. For example billing showed 0.9 units of water use instead of the actual use of 90 units for the quarter. These individuals will be contacted directly.” Do me a favor and look at your water bill. Determine what your monthly usage was. 4-8 units is about the average depending on the size of your family and such. Now lets look at the above statement (found on the top half of the backside of the water bill letter). KNOW: 90 units of water per quarter = 90,000 gallons of water used 1 unit of water costs $4.94 x 90 = $444.60 1 unit of sewer costs $4.26 x 90 = $383.40 Total water and sewer debt for 1 quarter = $828. 30 units of water per month. = 30,000 gallons of water used 1 unit of water costs $4.94 x 30 = $148.20 1 unit of sewer costs $4.26 x 30 = $127.80 All I can say is that I hope this person is contacted directly as they might need medical attention when they are informed that their total water/sewer debt per month is now $276.00 Here are a few facts noted from the EPA sourced below. American residents use about 100 gallons of water per day. (this household, if you believe what you read, used 10x this every day???) It takes six and a half years (78 months) for the average American residence to use the amount of water required to fill an Olympic-sized swimming pool (660,000 gallons). (this household could, if you believe what your read, do this in 22 months???) Then there is this water audit as a whole. Ask this: 1. WAS THERE EVER A MOTION MADE TO PERFORM A WATER AUDIT? 2. WHO IS PERFORMING THE WATER AUDIT? ARE THEY WATER AUDIT QUALIFIED? 3. WHAT FUNDS ARE BEING USED TO FUND THIS WATER AUDIT? Answer: 1. There has been no motion made to perform a water audit. 2. With no motion to perform it - who knows? 3. Robert Half is being paid to perform a Forensic Audit to detect Fraud; paid for from Forfeiture Funds (which can only be used to detect criminal events.) - If this water audit is being performed by Robert Half then I assure you - it is outside of the scope of a Forensic Audit and can not be funded through Forfeiture Funds. The water audit has been brought up since June though; prior to Robert Half providing professional services to our Village. So I ask: Is the President Performing this audit? And if so, what are her qualifications in doing so? And at whos direction is she performing this audit, if no motions exist? Where is the accountability? When fact finding is clearly incorrect and then directed to the public I must question the integrity of the audit in its entirety. When there is a failure to follow process it assures me that my questions are justified.
