PLEASE SHARE! (I put a lot of time and thought into this) I wonder if anyone in a wheelchair was stranded on the skytrain when it broke down... -Translink made over $80,000,000 revenue in 2008, right before they raised the fares. -2009-2010 Translink had almost 200,000,000 people use either the bus, train or ferry. -They are continuously grossly overbudget and in the process of construction of new stations and unnecessary renovations of older stations. (Currently they are building the Evergreen Line to Port Coquitlam). -They plan to (if they have not already) spend $100,000 each on 3 statues for 3 skytrain stations including a 7 foot tall poodle statue by Main Street Skytrain with a whopping price tag of $97,600!! -Their poor budgeting and planning lead to the installation of the Compass system costing over $20,000,000 extra to build! -The Compass system was built SOLELY for fare evasion. Fare evasion equates to approximately 7 to 10 million and the system COSTS roughly $12,000,000 to run Annually. It will NEVER pay for itself! - The day after Vancouver Drivers were hit with a 2 cent per litre gas tax to fund Translinks expansion projects, they planned to give 9 Executives EACH a bonus up to and exceeding $60,000!! We have constantly been promised more buses and better service but the service is getting WORSE! They arent even operational during the early hours of the morning and they STILL inconvenience us with scheduled track maintenance during the day delaying peoples transportation. Translink is HEMHORRHAGING money while WE foot the bill! When are people going to stand up against this company that takes advantage of people who cannot afford NOT to take transit! Translink is a CRIMINAL organization with a monopoly over Vancouvers Citizens! Please share this post and make sure it makes its rounds!
