***PLEASE SHARE***PLEASE SHARE*** ~Jennifer here~ Our new boy (who is still not named) had a pretty good day considering how unwell he is. I am trying to keep his scouring under control and hoping this will pass as his gut is starting to work now with small regular feeds. We take emaciated horses very slowly as to not colic them. Its actually quite heart wrenching as you know the horse is starving, yet you cannot pump them full of feed or you will kill them. Amanda has taught me alot about bringing back emaciated horses and I follow her instructions. Its quite incredible how much this horse reminds me of Gumby. He is a walking skeleton yet has a strong will. He has a whinny identical to Gumby and is very determined to eat everything given to him. I am well aware that the next week is critical that we build him up slowly, he is certainly not out of the woods just because he has come to us. There are many issues he has. Christine one of our amazing Vets will be here on Monday to do everything she can for him. We will have his bloods run to see whats going on inside as emaciation this severe causes many problems internally. Im concerned about a nasal discharge on one side (possible tooth root acscess) and he has burn down his back legs from scouring. We will soak his back legs in Malaseb everyday to soothe it as the skin is getting infected and painful. Please do not comment on how he got this bad, or his previous owners. No comments of hatred towards them, as it serves no purpose. The reason I have to tell you all these things that are wrong with him is because we must be honest as we need our supporters to donate to cases such as this, so we have to show you the true extent of how bad a horse is to get help from everyone to take care of them. I am 100% committed to help this horse 24/7 and will put in as many hours as it takes to care for him. I have great, dedicated Volunteers who will help this boy with me, but we also need the help of our supporters. He will be in long term care here at our Gold Coast Sanctuary and his Vet bill on Monday will be large. I would ask our supporters to dig deep and donate some money towards his care. Even just a $2 or $5 donation is so helpful if enough people do it. He will be on lots of supplements which are expensive, his scouring treatment I have him on now is $48 per bottle and I assume I will go through alot. Im very grateful to the doggers for handing this boy over to us instead of slaughtering him, he has a wonderful personality. I will post bank details on how to help him. Because he has no name as yet, I have asked for the reference on your bank deposit to be help. Thanks so much for supporting this boy, between all of us we will get him well. NASTY COMMENTS WILL BE DELETED. ~Jennifer~ HOW TO DONATE >>>> BSB 084852 ACC 199974522 Save A Horse Australia Ref: your name + Help National Australia Bank *all donations over $2 are tax deductible
