PLEASE SHARE THIS ON YOUR WALL SO THAT YOUR FREINDS CAN SEE THE INSENSATIVITY THAT IS IN THIS WORLD. To elaborate on a post from yesterday..... My son works at Staples and is the employee that went in to work whenever they called and asked. He is the kind of employee who took a shift on Easter Sunday so that a co-worker with two little girls could be home for Easter. So I think that it goes without saying that he is the kind of employee any company would want to have and take care of. Well unfortunately, on Easter Sunday we got a call from family stating that his grandmother, who has been in the hospital for awhile, had taken a turn for the worst. The doctors said that her body was shutting down and may not make it through the day. Kristen called Staples to let PJ know that he needed to come home because we needed to leave for Gainesville right away. Well his manager on duty (name unknown at this time) refused to let him leave. During the conversation with Kristen he basically said that if PJ leaves he will not have a job at Staples when he returns. I of course got on the phone and was told the same thing. I demanded the name of his supervisor and was told that he did not have to tell me and would not tell me. After trying to keep composer while we were yelling at each other he put me on hold to put PJ back on. For the sake of Pjs job I went to the store to let PJ know that we were going on without him and that he needed to stay in order to keep his job. Well, business was so slow at the store that later during his shift they actually closed down his section and sent him to another section to work (where there was already somebody at). Where he spent the rest of his shift doing nothing. Grandmother passed away on Easter Sunday. I cannot believe that STAPLES would condone this kind of decision making. Family should always be forefront, especially in emergencies. I do intend to contact Corporate offices about this and want to encourage other to do the same. The store manager Chris Johnson is on vacation but I intend to contact her as well and encourage all my friends to do the same. We will be going up for the service in a few days.... wonder if that is also going to be a problem for STAPLES.
