*****PLEASE SHARE***** We just want to cry! We learned that between July 1, 2014 and early August 2014, over 500+ (five HUNDRED) animals were impounded at the Vance County Animal Shelter, and animals have continued to pour into the shelter during the month of August. No matter how hard they work, pray, and beg, we cannot save this many animals. RCAPS did not find rescue for over 400 animals between July 1st and August 1st, and the shelter had less than 10 adoptions during that time period. The animals that werent rescued or adopted were killed via heart stick. We are not allowed to post animals that are killed or animals that are considered unadoptable -- many simply scared from being trapped or by the scary shelter environment. Animals that have been at the shelter the longest will be killed if they are not on transport Friday night, unless we find rescue or enough animals find rescue to make room at the shelter. PLEASE spay/neuter your pets and adopt from shelters. The suffering and killing can all be prevented. Rescues, the shelter is BEYOND CAPACITY and many animals will be killed for space.
