PLEASE SHARE (& talk with your elders who arent on facebook) St Micheals Indian Residential School in Alert Bay, BC is being torn down We want to celebrate the passing of a dark historical period with renewed hope and optimism, and to continue the healing journey and potential for reconciliation. Ceremony for this will be in Alert Bay on February 18, 2014 starting 10:00am at the school moving to the bighouse for cleansing then to the gym to share a meal We really want to be finished by 3 so those traveling can catch the 3 oclock or 5 oclock ferry. FYI: the building is coming down in stages (it will not be demolished before our eyes) There are already notices on the building to NOT enter. We will not be going into the building for health and safety reasons. (asbestos and led paint will be removed first and the dust of that will be air born, as well the structure itself is not safe) I have phoned around, and every room in Alert Bay is already booked (Im not sure by who) We are going to put together a committee to help with billeting. There will be many support workers on sight the day of this ceremony. This is all I have to share for now. STAY TUNED
