PLEASE SUBMIT TESTIMONY IN OPPOSITION DEADLINE IS TUE 4/8 We have to have separation of Church and State and a pastor of New Hope should NOT be running the PUBLIC Board of Education !!! OPPOSE HORNER FOR BOE. New Hope Pastor Don Horner has been nominated for another 3-year term on the Board of Education. If you do not want an anti-gay minister to lead Hawaiis BOE, please submit testimony opposing his appointment [click link below for how to submit testimony & PLEASE SHARE. Horner sends his kids to a private school. Horner has a dictatorial style, running meetings in a rush, and accomplishing very little. Under Horners leadership, the BOE has been very secretive and refused to allow public testimony or hear community concerns. Horner changed the meetings from evenings to Tuesday mornings & afternoons when teachers/parents/students cannot attend. Under Horner, the BOE only meets at the DOE office in Honolulu, instead of holding BOE meetings around the state in various public schools. The BOE has no followup, no accountability, and has been reactive rather than proactive. They do not follow the education bills before the legislature, even ignoring students pleas for air conditioning. The public school students in Hawaii deserve better leadership. PLEASE TAKE ACTION BEFORE 4/9/14.
