PLEASE dont buy over the counter types of long acting flea preventions for your pets. NEVER cross use dog and cat products on the wrong species. Hartz and Sergeants are NOT quality controlled like veterinary products made by actual pharmaceutical companies that must answer to the entire medical community. They can contain TOXIC levels and types of pesticides not meant to be used at high concentrations on your pets. Some animals can handle it, some cant. Get your Advantage and Frontline etc. from a veterinarian. You dont have to make an appointment to get flea products. Heartworm preventions require testing but not plain flea products. Ordering online is also not 100% safe. Most veterinary hospitals charge similar prices as online stores but dont risk your pets life to save a dollar or 50 cents because your pet COULD end up in the hospital as an ER patient like this cat. We see reactions like this all the time. Its so sad. Remember your vet is providing these topical flea products for sale to you NOT because they NEED the profit or want to charge more, but because they want your pet to be safe and use reliable products vs. something dangerous. There is a reason why vets dont use or sell these cheaper brands. They are not safe.
