PLEASE...keep in mind that the most successful charities are those who are better at soliciting funds, not necessarily those charities who are best at making the world a better place, or even those who are in the greatest need. We have charitable organizations whose associated deaths reach in the hundreds of thousands a year, compared to the lower numbers of ALS. Thats not to marginalize ALS, but please, please, PLEASE...if you are going to donate any more, find another one that REALLY needs your help!! Ironically, a group that I have donated to in the past is dedicated to bringing fresh water to villages so that the people dont have to trek for miles with containers of water. Take at look at what they have accomplished on a fraction of what the ice bucket challenge is doing...a fundraiser who wastes the very thing that 100s of thousands of people are literally dying for. I know everyone means well and youre having fun, making the philanthropic pill go down a little easier. So have fun if you must, but research and continue to give where it is needed most!
