PM: Church politics stopping K10m aid By Sally Pokiton Dec 21, 2014. PNG Loop Prime Minister Peter O’Neill has called on the Lutheran church leaders to put their differences aside and service the people and its congregation members. Speaking on the saga of Lutheran Shipping and the in-house conflict among the church’s leaders, he said the government is committed to partnerships with churches who deliver education, health and most importantly the spiritual needs of people. He said the Lutheran church has disputes among its members “but we must not forget why we have a church and are in the church’’. “It’s to serve the congregation, community and country so we must forget our differences and work together,” O’Neill said. He said while the church’s Lutheran Shipping was facing problems the Government had allocated K10 million to assist with their shipping services “but church politics is stopping it’’. O’Neill said church politics was stopping development in the church where it was the same story with the Lutheran University project. “We leaders of the church must try to put aside our differences and concentrate on the welfare of the congregation members.’’
