PM Erdoğan: no going back on Gezi Park plan ANF - Tunis 06.06.2013 18:11:17 Speaking in Tunisia today Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdoğan said that "the government Taksim project is a plan that unites history and nature. And this project will produce a very beautiful environment in Istanbul". So there is no going back for the PM, despite the protests all over the country. Erdoğan said his government had already expressed sorrow for those wounded in police attacks in the first days of the protests in Istanbul, but reiterated that Gezi Park will be destroyed. "A beautiful and strong opera house", replacing the existing Atatürk Kültür Merkezi will also be built, said the PM, adding that "there will be trees around the opera house". So a few trees instead of the exiting park will be enough for the PM who also insisted that those who caused troubles and street violence were the same people who attacked the U.S. Embassy in Ankara (meaning the left revolutionary group DHKPC).
