PM has ‘many tongues: Polye Press Release Jan 21, 2015-PNG Loop The Opposition Leader Don Polye has described Prime Minister Peter O’Neill as ‘someone with many tongues’. “O’Neill says one thing to our people to conceal the truth over his controversial decisions. “If that statement is found out by our people to be the best-dressed lie, he says the other or blames those against him head-on,” said Mr Polye when responding to O’Neill’s media statement accusing the Opposition for misleading the people over PNG Power’s State of Emergency. The government had blamed the Opposition for misleading the people when it said the ‘police and defence personnel have been called out to collect debts’ in the SOE exercise to scavenge PPL from its financial situations. The Opposition Leader still maintains that what he had said was true. “We have accordingly responded to media reports saying the government has called out defence and police personnel to collect PPL’s outstanding bills. “And that Post Courier on 8 January (the next day after the announcement of SOE) reported ‘Government calls out army, police to recoup millions in outstanding bills to save cash-stripped PNG Power’,” he said. He said the Opposition, without fear or favour, would continue to keep the government accountable for its decisions despite threats and blames by the ‘irresponsible government’.
