PM stresses need for peace to expedite dev - Prime Minister Sushil Koirala on Friday stressed the need for ensuring peace, stability and democratic governance to accelerate development and poverty alleviation. The country has managed to stay afloat through remittance that comprises nearly one-quarter of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP), the Prime Minister said, speaking at an interaction entitled Tackling Poverty: Road to Prosperity organised jointly by the Ministry of Cooperatives and Poverty Alleviation, Poverty Alleviation Fund and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) to mark International Day of Eradication of Poverty. He added that the government and parties remained committed to providing a stable basis to expedite development and prosperity through a timely constitution. “There are endless opportunities in Nepal, in areas, particularly in hydropower, tourism and agriculture and a new constitution will pave way for peace and a more stable government, establishing Nepal as a destination for investment,” ...
