PM’s China visit opens new vistas of economic opportunities: Ahsan ISLAMABAD, July 24 (APP): Minister for Planning and Development Ahsan Iqbal has said that the recent visit of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif to China would open new vistas of economic opportunities for more than three billion people of Asia, Central Asia and the Middle East.He was addressing the participants of an Iftar dinner hosted by Chinese Huawei Company (Pakistan) here Tuesday evening.A large number of representatives of Huawei, businessmen, government officials and journalists attended the dinner. Ahsan Iqbal said that China was Pakistan’s time-tested and trustworthy friend. Both the countries enjoyed excellent friendly relations at political levels.He regretted that their trade volume stood at US $ 12 billion, which mismatched their relationship taller than the Himalayas. “Our government under the leadership of Prime Minister Nawaz Shaif is keen to translate the excellent political relations into economic ones by taking benefit from the policy of the economic corridor between Pakistan and China from Gawardar to Kashgar (China),” he added. Both the countries would also be linked through rail links to explot their economic potentials, he added. He said Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif preferred to visit China as his foreign trip after assuming the office of prime minister. Similarly Chinese Premier Lee also undertook his first overseas visit to Pakistan after assuming office, he added. Lauding the services and contribution of Huawei Company for Pakistan’s development, the minister said that it had become a flagship for the friendship between the two countries. He said Pakistan offered tremendous opportunities for investment in various sectors and urged other Chinese investors and companies to follow the footprints of Huawei Company to take benefit of the conducive environment. He added that Pakistan was keen to promote information and telecommunication technology to brighten the future of the new generation. Ahsan Iqbal said the government had zero tolerance for corruption and wanted to promote good governance and transparency in running the affairs of the country. It had given Vision 2025 for providing a prosperous Pakistan to the new generation. Highlighting the energy crisis in the country, he said that the PML-N government wanted to turn it into an opportunity and called upon all the political parties to supplement the government’s efforts for the socio-economic prosperity of the country. The representatives of the Huwaei company highlighted the achievements made by their company in Pakistan. They vowed to continue promoting quality information and communication technology solution in Pakistan
