The five-foot Most Citizen-friendly icon made of fiber glass was received by Chief Inspector Pedro H. Enriquez of Kalibo police station from Police Regional Office (PRO)-6 regional director Chief Superintendent Josephus Angan and National Police Commission (Napolcom) regional director Marte Palomar. Kalibo mayor William Lachica, Kalibo vice mayor Madeline Regalado, Aklan police provincial director Senior Superintendent Samuel Nacion also witnessed the ceremony at the Iloilo Freedom Grandstand in Iloilo City last Monday. The Kalibo police station received P15,000 for defending the MCF award. It bested Pavia police station and San Jose police station for the award. The runner-ups received trophies and plaques of appreciation. Kalibo municipal police station is aiming next year for the Hall of Fame award. The prestigious award is given to a city or municipal police station for defending the Most-Citizen Friendly award for three consecutive years. Two years ago, Kalibo police station under the leadership of Superintendent Aden Lagradante was adjudged second behind champion Cabatuan, Iloilo police station in the regional search for Most Citizen-Friendly police station. In 2012 also, the Kalibo police station was adjudged as the Best Municipal Police Station in the region for its outstanding transformation initiatives and performance in police administration and operations in line with the Philippine National Police (PNP) Integrated Transformation Program. The multi-awarded Kalibo municipal police station first received the Most Citizen-Friendly award in 2013 during the stint of Superintendent John Lemwel Villafranca. Meanwhile, Jaro police station won the MCF award in the city category; Roxas City police station placed second and San Carlos City and Bago City police stations tied for third place. This year, NCPW adopted the theme “Krimen ay Laban, Karapatan ay Igalang tungo sa Mapayapang Pamayanan.” The NCPW is observed annually every first week of September by virtue of Presidential Proclamation No. 461 dated August 31, 1994. NCPW celebration highlighted the partnership of non-government organizations and the government agencies to develop a comprehensive community-based crime prevention programs. ### BY BOY RYAN B.
