POACHER HUNTED AFTER POSTING IMAGES OF HIS ILLEGAL ACTIVITY ONLINE..! A man is facing prosecution after posting gruesome images posing with his trophy animals on the Internet. Pavel Gotovchikov has become a wanted man thanks to his own horrific photographs on his personal page on the social network site Odnoklassniki. There are more than 50 pictures, including one showing him with a dead beaver stuck to a post with sticky tape and a shot glass in the animal’s paws, and another in which he kisses the corpses of a baby deer and its mother in the boot of his car. Other images give indisputable proof of his illegal poaching activities, showing him with freshly killed whooper swan, hares, squirrels, buzzards and elk. Conservationists in Siberia have called on police and prosecutors to investigate in a bid to bring Gotovchikov to justice. Alexei Gribkov, chair of Geblerovskoe Ecological Society in the Altai region, said: The photos posted on Gotovchikov’s page confirm illegal hunting. For example, he is depicted in some of the photos with a killed whooper swan. Gotovchikov posted on the photo calling the swan a ‘northern goose’ but there is no such type of bird. Apart from the fact that a whooper swan can’t be hunted, the poaching is confirmed by the fact that the bird was killed in April at a time banned by local legislation. All in all, there are about 50 photos of corpses and parts of corpses posted in Gotovchikov’s profile on the Odnoklassniki website. Over 25 photos confirm he was poaching. Gotovchikov, a resident of the Altai Krai in western Siberia, is the head of the DOSAAF shooting club in Altai and listed his job as a kettleball coach at the Altai State University. Conservationists point to the dates many of the images were taken, or the weather conditions outside, as evidence he has been killing animals illegally and off-season. For instance in the pictures with dead hares, the grass is green and there are still leaves on trees, yet hunting them is banned during the spring and summer months breeding period. Poaching a baby deer no older than three months old, and for elk – whose head is cut off in one of the more gruesome images – is likely to break the Russian Federation Criminal Code. Buzzards, grey heron, and whooper swan also cannot be hunted, yet Gotovchikov happily poses with the animals, often with his gun in his hands. In his sickening pictures, some dating back to 2009, he often wears military-style attire, and in one he is shown holding a knife to a squirrel’s tail. Mr Gribkov - whose organisation has appealed to the Altai Krai prosecutor’s office and the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs for Altai Krai to investigate – said: The culmination of the impiety is the picture showing Gotovchikov kissing the corpses of a baby and mother roe in the boot of his car. Mr Gribkov also revealed that since raising concerns over the poaching, Gotovchikov’s furious employers have said he no longer works for the university source: siberiantimes Image: In his sickening pictures, some dating back to 2009, he often wears military-style attire, and in one he is shown holding a knife to a squirrel’s tail.
