POET FRIENDS: Whats a book you might recommend to someone who wants to learn how to write poetry? I never thought Id say this, but after hanging out at the U of A Poetry Center, Im starting to get the bug. But every time I try to write a poem, I think, Why is this tiny thing even worth saying? If it helps, I seem to be especially inspired by weird experimental work (Christian Bok, Mary Szybist) and prose poems (Russell Edson, Zachary Schomberg). So a series of prompts (like the ones Ive found online) that say things like Write about a favorite pet arent likely to do much for me. I might be more interested in form than content.
