POETRY TOUR of ONTARIO, QUEBEC & NEW YORK Friends! Wonder of wonders, I have in my hands a funding agreement from Creative Scotland in which they say they will give me some filthy, filthy money to enable me to go and DO SOME POEM in Canada and the US (the NE bit of the continent). I have just booked a flight. Yikes. Here are some confirmed dates: - Sun 7th: Land in sunny Toronto - Tue 9th: Art Bar, Toronto - Wed 10th: Nuyorican Wednesday Slam - Fri 12th: Nuyorican Friday Slam - Tue 16th: Boneshaker, Toronto - Fri 19th: London Poetry Slam - Mon 22nd: The Poet in New York, The Bowery (!!!?!?!) - Thu Sep 25th: Return to grey England Why am I telling you this, I hear you cry? Is it simply to brag? NO! (well maybe a little.) Is it to explain that I am running away from the independence referendum because I hate election night palava? NO! (ok that too) IT IS BECAUSE MAYBE YOU CAN HELP. Do you have friends in New York, London Ontario, Guelph, Montreal or nearby cities who might be able to offer a poet a sofa? Do you know poetry organisers in any of these cities who might be able to offer a poet a gig? Do you know interesting people in these cities I should meet to talk about spoken word? (Because that is one of the conditions of my funding. There will be blogging.) Then maybe you could hook a boy up? I can offer in return only my love! And blogs! And also I am running a workshop on How To Tour when I get back that you can come to! It wont all be tips on posting begging messages to Facebook! Maybe I will send you a poem from Canada! Who knows!
