POINT TO PONDER - I was watching khabarnama in one of the TV channels and suddenly it started broadcasting news about two more killings that have taken place in Karachi today. My first impulsive reaction was that I swiftly switched on to another TV channel. The thought going on in my mind at that moment was, it is normal in this God forsaken city so what’s new. Now I ask; living in this country all my life, who is responsible for my gradually evolved mindset, which is now devoid of empathy. Nostalgically I still remember my childhood memories of 60s and my memories of youth in 70’s; compare to the society in which I lived in those days the society I am living now looks alien. My perception rightly or wrongly is, the minute; Buttoism came followed by Ziaism and MQMethnicism and then came the Sharifs of PML-N, the society entered into a phase of rapid degeneration and now we are living in a country where might is right and bullet is more expensive than human life, law of the jungle prevails and every criminal of any description pride himself as democrat, who belong to one of the status co political parties.
