POLICE BLOTTER - May 1, 2013 Warrant Arrest // Illegal Drug Possession in 8400 block of Broadway Ave In the early afternoon, an officer approaches a vehicle and clearly sees drug paraphernalia in the open glove box. The officer contacts the driver and the police database indicates he has an outstanding warrant. The driver is arrested. The driver and passenger consent to a search of the vehicle and vow there is no additional contraband. However, officers find a black bag on the passenger side floorboards containing a small packet with a crystal-like substance inside. When asked, the passenger states the bag belongs to the driver. The driver concedes he forgot about the bag and admits it contains methamphetamine. Officers get a presumptive positive for methamphetamine when they field test the substance. The driver is booked into county jail for his warrant and referred to the Prosecutors Office for the illegal drug offense.
