POLITICS AND SENSATIONAL JOURNALISM: THE AKWA IBOM STATE - TopicsExpress

POLITICS AND SENSATIONAL JOURNALISM: THE AKWA IBOM STATE EXPERIENCE In Akwa Ibom State alone, we have over 50 newspaper spread across the entire state but I can authoritatively submit that over 90% are junk. Leading the pack is Global Concord, a purely sensational newspaper that survived the media profession with falsehood and mere gossiping. The funniest thing is that many who patronise this junks are the educated illiterates in our midst. They believe anything that is written on the paper and will help to spread the falsehood to all the nooks and crannies of the state. The build-up to 2015 general election has really boost the media business and the practitioners are smiling to the bank but the resultant effect will leave an open wound that will be difficult to heal. The story of G22 has really exposed the media practitioners in Akwa Ibom State to public ridicule. Today, they say one thing and tomorrow, they say a different thing. In the process, they misinform the people and misled the larger society through their reportage against the ethics of the profession. The worst damages they have done to our people is to disabuse the minds of many with facts and feed them with junks. This is contrary to the role expected from the media in promoting and defending democracy. LET ME LISTED TO BUDGET PRESENTATION BY AKWA IBOM STATE GOVERNOR FIRST....
