POLITICS + HISTORY | There is an observation that history seems to produce the right person at the right time to help the forces of good keep progressing forward throughout times of hardship and risk to falling to evil in the world. For instance: Lincoln, who kept our nation together with his leadership through the Civil War. FDR during the great depression and WWII. Winston Churchill for his leadership during WWII. Reagan and Margaret Thatcher during the critical 80s when both the U.S. and England were in national decline. But I was thinking about the reverse is true. Sometimes history provides you with an individual who shows you why dont want that type of person in charge. That person creates the conditions where people can reflect on the merits of that type of leadership and even political principles. At the eve of what might have been a blue majority and progressive permanent majority of democrats in this country, we produced Obama. And through the last 6 years, we have seen what his brand of politics and leadership provides this country. To be fair, you can also say the same thing for President Bush (jr.) but for different reasons (war?) - and we might be at a real inflection point where we have avoided a destructive semi-permanent majority in this country and we owe that to one person: Thanks Obama! History has done us a favor again - but this time rather than putting a person in power that saved us - it has produced a person that we realized we no longer want - and certainly not his current political party as it exists today. Thanks History!
