POLITICS IS BIG Of the many gifts passed down to us by the Athenians, including philosophy, theater, painting, sculpture, and architecture, none is more significant than their chosen form of government: democracy, rule by the people. Indeed, it can be convincingly argued that all the other achievements depended first on how the city was governed, on the open and free society that respected the dignity, rights, and aspirations of the individual…..(The Birth of Democracy and The Athenian Citizen). Truth be told to this generation and the generation to come that democracy should not be abused and cast politics in a corner as no more than a dirty game.To the contrary representative democracy birthed in greece at Anthens was meant not to dress down the rights of the people rather develop a free and just society where all men are equals. My beloved, no matter how divergent our views should become, our bond of affections for one another should not strain to the point where we kill each other.Democracy was meant to deliver the aspiration of the people and protect human rights Imagine how politics brings strange faces at markets ,in buses,in mall and taxis.Imagine how different people with different background gather at rallies,politics is big .Imagine how a rich Man with wealthy and influence will be allowed only to cast one vote Like a poor man with a funny name from a compound,Politics is big.Look at the decision politicians make ,they decide how much will be spent in education,on health.How many people will be employed,how people will enjoy their rights,.politics is big.Lets rise up together and vote.
