POLLS: DABIRI-EREWA SEEKS NIGERIANS IN DIASPORA ASSISTANCE The Chairman of the House of Representatives Diaspora Committee, Hon. Abike Dabiri-Erewa on Thursday urged Nigerians in the Diaspora to encourage their relatives at home to participate in 2015 general elections. Dabiri-Erewa gave the advice in a telephone interview with the News Agency of Nigeria in Abuja. According to her, though Nigerians abroad cannot vote in the 2015 general elections, they can use various platforms to encourage their people in Nigeria to vote. She further urged them to convince their relations and friends to collect their Permanent Voter Cards to enable them vote for the leaders of their choice. The House committee chairman appealed to them to impress on their people to vote wisely and avoid selling their votes in 2015 polls. The lawmaker further advised them to promote the nation’s heritage. Dabiri-Erewa said: “I am aware that they are holding several meetings in the various continents and analysing issues and many are objectively asking Nigerians to vote wisely.” On the forthcoming polls, Dabiri-Erewa also urged the Independent National Electoral Commission not to disenfranchise eligible voters from exercising their legitimate civic responsibility to the country. She said: “All registered and eligible voters must get their Permanent Voter Cards, vote enmasse and defend their votes to ensure free, fair and credible elections. “It is a about our collective destiny.”
