POLLUTION and WATER Moradabad administration, Indian Medical Association and World Wide Fund-India in Collectorate Sabha Bhawan jointly organized a discussion on Jal Pradushan aur Swasth pur Parne Wale Kuprabhav re River Ramganga. Experts of medical profession Dr. Ajay Agrawal, Dr. Bharat B. Satpathy, Dr. Samir Khanna and Dr. Dinesh Bhurani were of the opinion that drinking polluted water in Moradabad could lead to various serious diseases, including cancer of various organs. Owing to widespread industries in Moradabad, the river water, underground water and other water sources have contents of different metals which have harmful effect on human body, animals and other living beings. Therefore, these experts and other participants Gurbinder Singh, Dr. Vishesh Gupta, Ajay Gupta, Sanjay Kumar Singh, JS Agrawal, and SC Gupta etc suggested that ways should be found to keep water in Moradabad pollution free. A suggestion surfaced that that the existing government departments—Pollution Control Board, Nagar Nigam and Medical and Health department should play an active role in this regard. Senior functionary of WWF-India Suresh Babu said the summary of suggestions that surfaced in the meet would be sent to DM for consideration and action.
