POOL PROGRESS - WEEK TWO - Lightning Turtle, pool & fountain specialists, are working with Hallmark Constructions concrete specialists building the Silo Pool & Fountain. This week they poured the footings for both the upper pool and the catchment basin, began work on the dividing wall that will hold the waterfall scuppers, dug a deep trench from the irrigation well and electric source on the opposite side of the Visitor Center, around the front of the Visitor Center and to the silo, ran water pipe and electric conduit down through the trench, and then backfilled the trench. While digging the trench on the north side of the visitor center they came across the foundation of a third silo and had to bring in a jackhammer to take the trench through those walls. While they were at it, the Lightning Turtle team ran a second trench with water & electric lines to the east, where the future Hillside Garden walls will have scuppers that will direct streams of water into rectangular pools below. Although that project remains in the future until funds are raised, the water and electric source will be in place, saving a great deal of cost and excavation when the time comes.
