POORNA ANANDA WISDOM LETTER July, 04 2013 _________________________________________________ Last Thursday, 27th June Satsang subject: Prarabdh Karma (Preordained destiny) is the cause for all our woes: When we are born we are born with Prarabdh karma (preordained destiny) based on which our life situations are prefixed. Prarabdh karmas are those karmas which were performed in the past births but they did not get an opportunity to give their results during those births. Some of the situations which are unexplained and cannot be termed as mere accidental nor are biased by God, prove the existence of past birth karmas. They, for example are (1) the simultaneous birth of a child in a poor family and another in a millionaires family (2) some children born with physical deformities and others with perfect health (3) some life incidents which cannot be related to the present birth karmas such as getting cheated by an unknown person, suffering in life in spite of performing good deeds and helping others, working hard with positivity yet not achieving success, losing everything in natural calamities in spite of daily worship etc. These prefixed life situations are based on past birth karmas and are both joyful and painful. We are talking here mainly about the painful prarabdh karmas and the ways to deal with them as these are the ones which give us pain, sorrow, grief and misery. Prarabdh karmas which give pleasure, happiness, prosperity etc are in any case acceptable to us without any complain. The pain, grief, sorrow, misery etc in unfavorable situations could be overcome completely or their intensity is considerably reduced by the following means. 1. Accept all unfavorable situations as the result of our past birth karmas, which only means that we are getting back what we have given to others in the past birth. 2. Always remain neutral and in an equilibrium state in both, favorable and unfavorable situations. 3. Accept life situations as gift from God and to perceive them, more so the painful ones, as for our good. The good which is invisible and not manifested yet but for sure to manifest in future. 4. Lead a life in this world as a representative of the supreme Divine God and offer the karmas and their results to Him. Feel that He is only making us perform karmas to fulfill His own divine hidden objective. We are being used as an instrument by Him and we are neither the doer of karmas nor receiver of their results. With the above attributes and emotions, even when we go through the painful situations in life we would not feel the pain. When we don’t feel the pain in painful situations, then it is as good as not having those painful situations in life. It is like walking in rain but with an umbrella and not getting wet. It is said that “Painful situations may not be in our control but Suffering is our choice”. So stop suffering in painful situations and let the life flow forward, like a river. There are beautiful things ahead, though not visible to us.
