POP QUIZ Answer. If you didnt read the full thread and posts of January 22 POP QUIZ, you should. The question was about care/cleaning of our parrots, in numbers. How many cages + how many birds + how many bowls = how much time. I asked this question because for new flock members or the parrot curious there is a tendency to think you can schedule this type of work, like washing a dog. As veteran flock members we know that its a daily event, it just IS part of the lifestyle. Parrot care/cleaning/cage maintenance isnt a scheduled event. It is part of the total of being a human in a flock. Whether your flock is one or many, the care part resembles having a 3 year old in the house rather than a dog. They are very much children and they are very much busy making messes when they are awake. Youll find routines build themselves up as far as general cleanliness, and certain processes (like food bowls), but youll always be picking up, putting away, wiping down, wiping up, wiping off, sweeping, mopping, vacuuming and dusting. Its part of the lifestyle choice itself. And youll find like most new habits, if you stick with it and make it a habit, you wont notice that work that much. Generally. So for the parrot curious, and the new flock members here, realize a lifestyle choice is just that, a lifestyle. There are many ways to create a home and flock environment to make this part of the lifestyle somewhat easy and certainly doable. But dont bother adding up the hours spent. Its much nicer to add up the parrot kisses gained. :)
