PORT VICTORIA HOSPITAL CRISIS I have decided to directly - TopicsExpress

PORT VICTORIA HOSPITAL CRISIS I have decided to directly intervene in the crisis that has literally crippled services at our key Port Victoria Hospital. Kenya Power have confirmed to me that the problem is the Power Control Unit, which blew up and requires Kshs 1.3 million to replace. I have talked to Energy PS, Eng. Joseph Njoroge, Busia Governor Sospeter Ojaamong and Busia Health Executive Dr. Siminyu, and every effort is being made to sort this crisis pronto. Health facilities and the crucial services they provide are devolved to counties. I have expressed my very strong objection to Gov. Ojaamong and Dr. Siminyu over the fatally slow response to a crisis of such magnitude, which has placed countless precious lives at risk. I recall a similar attitude in 2013 when I had to source funds from the national government to address a water crisis then occasioned by unpaid power bills that had crippled both Port Victoria and Sisenye pump stations. I urge all our MCAs to deal firmly with the county government to ensure effective service delivery to our people. Am always here to lend a hand. But in respect of devolved services like healthcare and water, the buck stops with the county government...and MCAs. It is called division of labour!
