POSITION OPENING: Systems/Database Administrator MAINE STATE EMPLOYEES ASSOCIATION, SEIU LOCAL 1989 Summary: Maine State Employees Association, SEIU Local 1989, is seeking to fill a vacancy of Systems/Database Administrator. Description: MSEA-SEIU Local 1989 is a labor union representing over 14,000 public and private sector employees throughout the State of Maine. MSEA-SEIU operates a complex internal computer network, membership database system, website, predictive dialer and VoIP phone system and seek a qualified applicant to maintain and enhance its information technology capabilities. Duties: 1. System and network technical support and server backup 2. Query construction and troubleshooting (both basic and advanced) within a Microsoft SQL database driven environment 3. Membership data maintenance, including membership application processing and reporting 4. Works closely with co-workers and outside programmers 5. Collaborating in the development of database structure add-ons 6. Manipulation of import templates and customized batch processing 7. Performs other duties as may be assigned. Requirements: · Knowledge of Microsoft SQL database structure and software. · Ability to diagnose and articulate system malfunctions for technical support. · Maintains system integrity through application of established backup, restore and DR practices · Knowledge of complex multi-user network systems · Knowledge of database design and data security, confidentiality, and integrity requirements. · Prepares users by conducting training; providing information; resolving problems. · Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships. · Must have reliable transportation and a driver’s license. · Bachelor’s degree in computer information systems -OR- an Associate’s Degree in computer information systems with two (2) years’ experience performing system and database administration functions in a LAN/WAN environment -OR- a related field with four (4) years’ experience performing system and database administration functions in a LAN/WAN environment.
