POSITION POSTING: Assistant Communications Supervisor (Posted from November 10 thru November 24, 2014) The Grand Island Fire Company is accepting letters of interest and resumes for the position of Assistant Communications Supervisor. The Assistant Communication Center Supervisor (Assistant Supervisor) works for the Board of Directors (BOD) and reports to the Communication Center Supervisor. The Assistant Supervisor assists the Communication Supervisor in his duties, as directed by the Communication Supervisor and/or the BOD; and completes any other duties as assigned by the BOD. The Assistant Supervisor should be well versed in the management, planning, direction, and scheduling of the Communication Center; and should also be well versed in the policy and procedures and goals set forth by the BOD. The Assistant Supervisor, though not responsible for short and long range planning, budgeting, and staffing, should have knowledge of said items. The Assistant Supervisor assists in staff continuing development and performance testing; and provides counsel to subordinates and staff on employee matters and recommends and/or carries out corrective action as appropriate. The Assistant Supervisor should have sufficient knowledge and ability to run the Communication Center operations in the absence of the Communication Center Supervisor. This position does not include IT functions that may be the responsibility of the Communication Supervisor, though some of these functions may be relayed to the Assistant Supervisor with proper training when the need dictates.
