Cells in the top layer are continually replaced with new cells from bottom layer. This process slows as we age. Exfoliating helps speed up the process by promoting youthful skin. Skin has life cycle of 20 days where old skin cells get pushed to surface of our skin. Without exfoliating our skin looks dull and dark. Exfoliating regularly helps remove dead skin cells. Removing these old skin cells will enable our skin to absorb serums and moisturizers more efficiently and makeup will go on more smoothly.
