POST-CHOLECYSTECTOMY CBD INJURY & STENT PLACEMENT Today, on 18-dec-2014, a 60 years female was referred to AREC/LIVER CLINIC for ERCP from a surgical department. She underwent open cholecystectomy 18 days back at chounia & now she has continuous bile leakage from drain & stitched wound site During ERCP, there was a small ampulla that had normal overlying mucosa & small ampullary orifice. After guide-wire cannulation, the contrast was injected. The CBD as well as intrahepatic ducts had normal caliber, however in upper part of CBD, the contrast collected outside the CBD, due to leakage. So a plastic biliary stent of size 10cm X 10 0F passed over the guide wire into the CBD across the leakage site successfully. After that, free flow of bile from the stent seen. Plan: Repeat CBC, LFTs, & Ultrasound after 2 weeks & follow. Removal of stent after 4-6 weeks. DR. MUHAMMAD IRFAN Assistant Professor of Medicine Endoscopist/ERCP Consultant
