POST NEW YEAR REFLECTION: Last night I watched the live telecast - TopicsExpress

POST NEW YEAR REFLECTION: Last night I watched the live telecast of the Mass at EWTN. The homily of Fr. Miguel was very insightful. He said that while other people are reveling and partying for the new year, we Christians are enjoying and welcoming the new year in a different way. New year should also be time for reparation and for renewals. To illustrate what the meaning of reparation, Fr. Miguel made use of the example of a man who borrowed the car of his friend. But unfortunately along the way he met an accident. So he went to his friend and extended his apologies for causing damage to the car. But sorry would not be enough. The one who borrowed the car has the obligation to shelve the expenses for the repair of he damaged car. That is what is meant by reparation. When we did something wrong against God and our neighbor we have the obligation not only to express our apologies in words but we must do something to restore the broken relationship. Reparation means not only being sorry for what we did not do or what we failed to do, but reparation also means being sorry for the things we did but we did not do it good. This expression of remorse and reparation must lead us to seek the grace of God to move forward and to be good.
