POSTDOC AD University of Goettingen, Germany 2 Postdoctoral Researchers: "Entrepreneurial Citizenship in China, India and Europe" The University of Goettingen has launched a transregional research network (CETREN) under the broad thematic rubric of The Politics of the New. Funded by the German Ministry for Education and Research (BMBF), CETREN promotes collaborations between disciplines and area studies, contributing to the production of innovative place-based knowledge in the social sciences and humanities. For a pilot project on Entrepreneurial Citizenship: New Economies and the Respatialisation of Citizenship in China, India, and Europe, CETREN seeks to fill 2 Postdoctoral Research Positions The two positions, to begin in April 2014, will be offered as two-year fixed-term contracts on a full-time basis (currently 39,8 hours per week) and will be remunerated at the TV-L E 13 level (in accordance with the German public sector pay scale). Project description The project Entrepreneurial Citizenship is led by Professors Sabine Hess (Cultural Anthropology/European Ethnology), Srirupa Roy (Centre for Modern Indian Studies) and Peter van der Veer (Director, Max Planck Institute for the Study of Religious and Ethnic Diversity). It will investigate how discourses and practices of economic transformation are reshaping structures, ideals and spaces of citizenship across the globe in the contemporary historical conjuncture. The focus is on how the growing symbolic and material prominence of the "entrepreneurial citizen has re-spatialised relations of power and sovereignty in three different regional configurations of new economic order: the "emerging markets of India and China and the "restructuring economies" of Europe (see project description at https://uni-goettingen.de/**en/422555.htmlor, from October, at cetren.de) Within this context, we invite postdoctoral research proposals that theoretically and empirically analyze entrepreneurial citizenship in a transregional or comparative framework. The overall projects main focus is on India, China and Europe. Successful applicants must have a PhD in a relevant field, including anthropology, sociology, political science, geography, cultural studies, or area studies. They must demonstrate empirical/field research experience and language competence appropriate to their research topic. Researchers will be based at the University of Gttingen but will have the opportunity to conduct fully-funded field research for part of the two-year period, upon consultation with the principal investigators. Applicants from all countries are encouraged to apply. Fluency in English is expected. A complete application will consist of a cover letter, a CV, a writing sample, two confidential letters of reference sent separately by the referees; as well as a 1000-word proposal for a postdoctoral research project.
