POWER OUTAGE UPDATE #6: Eni has advised that gas flow from Blacktip has now been restored and it is hoped that power will gradually return to normal across the Darwin and Katherine regions later tonight. This means it is business as usual from tomorrow and there will be no closures of schools or public service buildings. Public buses will run as usual tomorrow. At this stage, rolling outages are expected to run for a few more hours, with outages expected to last no longer than approximately one hour at a time in any one location. The following suburbs and areas are expected to experience power outages at around 8pm: Katherine East Florina Manbulloo Vic Hwy West Katherine Nth Edith River Pine Creek Mary River Katherine South Mataranka Larrimah Beswick Barunga Robbie Robins Reserve, Berrimah Dripstone High Leanyer Tiwi Herbert Howard Springs McMinns Lagoon Humpty Doo Stuart Park Stuart Hwy Gardens Hill Most of the suburbs and areas that went off at 7pm are expected to come back on at 8pm. We will continue to provide updates on the rolling outages as they become available. To help minimise the pressure on the network, we are asking people to reduce their power usage wherever possible. Residents are urged to avoid using non-essential power appliances such as pool filters until the problem is rectified. Police are currently undertaking traffic control at affected locations, and ask all drivers to drive with extreme caution and obey all traffic direction. Please consider the necessity of your travel, and if possible, restrict unnecessary road use during this period. Major intersections and traffic signals will be maintained through generators where possible and in cooperation with Police. Royal Darwin Hospital continues to operate as normal and has backup power. Please monitor local media and Secure NT (securent.nt.gov.au) for updates
