PPAR targets relevant for a variety of indications By palmitoylethanolamide4pain on February 17, 2014 To date, we know that PPARs have the capability to accommodate and bind a variety of natural and synthetic lipophilic acids, such as essential fatty acids, eicosanoids, phytanic acid and palmitoylethanolamide. This is a quote from a recent paper in the Nutritional Journal, were Dr Bogna Grygiel-Górniak gives a review of the importance of the PPAR targets for a variety of indications. Bogna points out that peroxisome proliferator-activated receptors are expressed in many tissues, including adipocytes, hepatocytes, muscles and endothelial cells and thus the compounds targeting this receptor might have a multitude of interesting activities. This article is the one of the many recent entries asking interest for PPAR receptor agonists. Palmitoylethanolamide is the best known and can very easily be used as a supplement.
