PRAY FOR PEACEFUL 2015 ELECTIONS; BALA URGES XTIAN/MUSLIM CLERICS The FCT Minister, Senator Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed has urged Christian and Muslim clerics to make it a matter of priority to pray for Nigeria to experience peaceful general elections in 2015. The Minister gave this charge while receiving members of the Christian Association of Nigeria, (CAN) FCT branch led by its Chairman, Rev. Israel Akanji at his residence in Gwarinpa I District, Abuja. Senator Mohammed remarked that Nigeria needs prayers at this material time to have successful and peaceful elections to strengthen our democracy. The Minister who earlier led FCT residents to pay Christmas Homage on President Goodluck Jonathan and the first family at the Presidential Villa also advised politicians to put the nation first. He lauded religious leaders in the Federal Capital Territory for their steadfastness and commitment to the well being of the nation; stressing that they have continued to show synergy and support to the FCT Administration. According to him, for this continuous understanding and cooperation from the religious leaders, the FCT Administration will continue to encourage them to endure on this path. While assuring that Abuja residents would continue to live in peace with one another, the Minister reiterated that the country’s diversity is divine. He prayed that all those behind the insecurity in the country would be put to shame, as Nigeria will continue to grow. The Minister thus, appealed to all residents of the Federal Capital Territory to continue to be good neighbors to their fellow residents, irrespective of religious beliefs; saying that the “best in the sight of Almighty God is the most pious”. Speaking earlier, the FCT CAN Chairman, Rev. Israel Akanji remarked that CAN members were in FCT to felicitate with the FCT Minister, Senator Bala Mohammed on the occasion of the Christmas celebration and to appreciate the utmost peace being enjoyed by both Christians and Muslims in the Federal Capital Territory particularly the adequate security provided on Sundays and Fridays in the Churches and Mosques respectively. The Chairman also commended the Minister for his pro-activeness on making adequate preparation for ebola as well as what the FCT Administration is currently doing for the internally displaced people that have ran to Abuja to take refuge.
