PRAYER ALERT: As many of you may have seen on the news today, much of Aberdeen and Hoquiam have been flooded, along with much of Chehalis. We received this from Dave Arnott Grace Harbor Covenant Church: Our church has been damaged as a result of the flooding. We are still assessing the extent of the damage but I can report that we have over a foot of standing water in a crawlspace underneath our main building. This crawlspace contains a fair amount of insulation and air ducts for our heating system. A portion of our furnace has come into contact with the standing water. At this point I dont know if the furnace itself has been damaged in any way. To compound the matter there was some kind of gasoline or diesel fuel leak in the area. There is a large sheen from the leak on the road and sidewalk outside our building and does extend up to the foundation of our building. There is the odor of the fuel inside of the building. There is also visible water running down on the inside of one of our exterior walls. We have contacted our insurance and am waiting to hear back from an adjuster. I have also contacted a company in regards to begin pumping the water out of the building...The condition of the building is such that as of right now we wont be holding services in the building this coming weekend. Locally, Highway 12 is closed outside of Aberdeen due to a mudslide. The only way in and out of town is via 107 which is a small highway to the south. There have been reports of several homes in Aberdeen and Hoquiam being lost due to mudslides. I have not heard of any injuries or fatalities as a result of the flooding or slides.
