PRAYER BRINGS HEALING TO THE LAND “ If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land” (2 Chronicles 7:14) A PRAYER OPENS A DOOR FOR THE HOLY SPIRIT TO COME Just before the day of Pentecost in Acts 2, it is written, “They all joined together in prayer, along with the woman and Mary and the mother of Jesus, and with his brothers” (Acts 1: 14). United prayer ushered in Pentecost. Talent, technology and material resources fall far short of meeting our needs. Talent is limited, technology does fail and material resources could be swept away by tsunami. Victory in our spiritual lives, at work and in church comes from the Lord. Prayer is the way to ask for and receive the victory. When we pray, we acknowledge to our Father our need of and reliance on Him. POSIBILITIES OF PRAYER Prayer brings heaven to earth. It opens all the possibilities that heaven has to offer to man. It brings the King down, and He will do anything. The greatest force in the hand of men is prayer. It is probably the greatest responsibility and privilege God ever gave to His creatures. Prayer brings the nature, character and purposes of God into the heart and environment of man. Prayer can chart and change the course of human history. WHEN SHOULD WE PRAY? On all occasions. Ephesians 6: 18 tell us to pray all kinds of prayer on all occasions. James tells us to pray all at all times – when in trouble and sickness (5:13-18). Paul tells the Thessalonians to pray always ( 1 Thessalonians 5:17). Jesus said men ought to pray always and not give up (Luke 18: 1). We need to pray at all times – when things are right and when things seem crazy, Pray for the rains and for a good day. Pray before you sleep, when you wake up, as you walk on the streets and as you cook. Prayer should become the primary occupation of the believer. Is your prayer life a monologue or a dialogue? Do you quietly wait on God and expect Him to speak to you during prayer? Do you really believe in prayer? “THESE I WILL BRING TO MY HOLY MOUNTAIN AND GIVE THEM JOY IN MY HOUSE OF PRAYER” (Isaiah 56:7a)
