PRAYER DREAM FOR NIGERIA 1. Fellow Nigerians, inspite of the difficulties and frustrations of the moment: I have a dream: It is a dream deeply rooted in every Nigerian, That: All men are created equal. 2. I have a dream: that whether from the desert sand of the North or the grassland of the Sahara belt, or the forest land of the Atlantic South, All Nigerian citizens- Christians or Moslems Rich or Poor High or Low Clean or Unclean Able or disable Male or female Will be able to seat side by side in Brotherhood To pray together Work together To play together To eat and drink together Knowing fully well, we are created equal by the same God This is our prayer; thus is our hope; upon it has our motto: UNITY AND FAITH, PEACE AND PROGRESS 3. With faith: We will be able to hew out the mountain off despair, a stone of hope. With faith: We will transform the gangling discords of our Nation into a beautiful symphony of brotherhood. With faith: We will be united together as God’s Children. 4. I have a dreamt: That one day, that this our land whose people are plague with Armed robbery, Religious and Sectional riots, Show of individual and family wealth, Poverty and tribal differences, Nepotism, corruption and lust for power, Will be transformed into a GREAT NATION. A Nation, where our children will be judged, Not by their state of origin or wealth; Nor tribal, ethnic or religious connections; But by the content of their character, By their intelligence and ability to Render selfless service, To a united fatherland. 5. So, Let unity ring from the hilltop of Abuja; Let unity ring from mountains of Adamawa; Let unity ring from rocks of Jos Plateau; Let unity ring from the shores of Lake Chad; Let unity ring from the sands of Sokoto and Kano; to the Olumo rocks of Abeokuta; Let unity ring from the Lagos lagoon to the banks of the Cross River; Let unity ring from the rivers and all tributaries of the Niger and the Benue. 6. And when we let faith and unity reign in every compound, every village, every city and every state. National Unity will surely follow; And will be able to speed up that day when all of God’s children: From the North and from the South; From the East and from the West; Christians and Moslems, and all Will join hand together and joyfully say: We are United at last.
