PRAYER FOR THE NEW YEAR (2015) 21-DAYS PRAYER AND FASTING: Psalm 42:1 – end; Is. 1-14 Purpose: There are three major reasons for the fasting; starting the year with a fast is a good practice. 1. By doing so, you set the course for the rest of the year. Just as beginning your day with prayer sets the course for the rest of the day and covers anything that may happen, the same is true of beginning the year with a fast. You set the course for the entire year by what you do with those first few days of each New Year. You can carry that even further to give God the first part of everyday the first day of every week. 2. Blessings will happen for you and your family throughout the year because you fasted in January. Blessings will be finding their way to you because of your sacrifice to the Lord at the beginning of the year. 3. This third point is so powerful. When you fast at the beginning of the year and pray, you release the principle found in Matthew 6:33, “Seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.” If you seek Him first in the year, get ready for all these “things” to be added to your life throughout the rest of the year! NOW GET ON BOARD. POSSESSING THE GATES OF YOUR BIRTHDAY NB: These are special days for individuals. They commemorate special encounters and serve as covenant signposts for thanksgiving and reminiscences. Psalm 90:12 ‘So teach us to number our days that we may gain a heart of wisdom.’ PRAYER POINTS 1. Oh Lord my Creator I thank you for the day my mother conceived me, I thank you today Lord for the very day I was born into the earth in Jesus Name. (Ps. 92:1-6). 2. Today I plead the blood of Jesus Christ upon the day I was born to this earth, let the day be soaked and establish by the blood of Jesus Christ. 3. O God let my birthday be full of light, and I declare that darkness will never hijack nor settle over it in Jesus name. NB 1. Break your fast by 3pm daily. 2. Ensure you pray the prayers scheduled for each day with your whole heart. 3. Ensure you read a minimum of 5 chapters of the Bible daily as schedule for the programme. 4. According to Matthew 6, the three major duties of every Christian are giving, praying, and fasting. As you pray and fast ensure you GIVE (Prov. 19:17, Mt 25:40, Mt 10:42, Act 20:35) Giving Means: - To freely transfer the possession of something to someone. - To hand over to another - To provide or supply to another freely - To render voluntary service or help to another Why we should give: John 3:16; Lev. 19: 9-10; 1 Cor. 9:7; Prov. 11: 24-25; Mal 3:10; James 2: 15-16; Luke 6:38, 3:11.
