PRAYER PRODUCES INTIMACY Part 4 Matthew 6: 5-15 Give us this day our Daily Bread Prayer should contain requests concerned with the individual’s daily needs. A/ Philippians 4:19 But my God shall supply all my needs according to His riches in Glory by Christ Jesus. B/ Luke 11:3 Give us day by day our Daily Bread Believers should learn to pray for life’s necessary provisions based on Four Principles: 1 / We must pray such petitions according to God’s will and His Glory a) Matthew 6:10, Thy Kingdom come, Thy will be done. b) Verse 33 , But seek ye first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness and all these things will be added unto you , c) 1 Cor 10:31, Whether therefore ye eat or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God. d) 1 Jn 5: 14-15. And this is the confidence that we have in him that if we ask anything according to His will, he heareth us. V 15, And we know that he hear us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we have desired of him. 2/ We must want God to demonstrate his fatherly love for us, a) Matthew 6:9, 25-34, you can read this to save time 3/ The provisions we pray for must supply our basic needs and give us the ability to perform Christian service. I hit a vein on this one with some of you Amen ,, we are always praying for the wrong things that we want and not what we need ,therefore not being able to do the Christian service effectively for God’s kingdom , a) 2 Cor 9: 8, And God is able to make all grace abound toward you; that ye always having all sufficiency in all things may abound to every good work. b) 1 Ti 6: 8, And having food and raiment, let us be therewith content. c) Hebrews 13: 5, Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee. 4 / We may ask for things only after we have faithfully given to God and to others. a) 2 Cor 9: 6, But this I say, He which soweth sparingly shall reap also sparingly, and he which soweth bountifully shall reap bountifully.
