PRAYER WORKS A priest Fr. John Murray, rose from his wheelchair - TopicsExpress

PRAYER WORKS A priest Fr. John Murray, rose from his wheelchair and walked, after being paralyzed and told by doctors hell never walk again. The priest believed it was the prayers of others and his own which caused the amazing miracle. No conclusion has been reached regarding the efficacy of prayer along scientific lines; scientists, doctors, and observers are divided. One reason for the ambiguity has to do with methodology--how to design a process the result of which is acceptable to the strict canons of scientific experiments. It seems even case studies of hundreds of subjects cannot convince others who perhaps right in their own minds do not accept the realm of the spirit. Or simply wont. The issue is: when one reaches an impasse; when no natural explanation for a phenomenon is credible, is it scientifically acceptable to embrace a non-scientific conclusion? In this NBC News feature(spiritdaily) somebody says: religion and science must not be separated. But such statements are philosophical, and is bound to reap adverse reactions from those less inclined to extend the boundaries of experimental science. The fact is, for every individual healed by prayer, others similarly prayed for stay sick or even die. If we are to conclude based on the evidence, prayer was futile. But faith operates along different tracks, and we dont judge its value according to whether it douses fever, straighten limbs, or resurrects the dead. Prayer is like the roots sinking deep into the ground, whose effects we barely see. It works.
