PRAYERS Please. I have a diagnoses of Mononeuritis Multiplex … Layman’s terms: Peripheral nerves carry information to and from the brain. They also carry signals to and from the spinal cord to the rest of the body. Peripheral neuropathy means these nerves dont work properly. Peripheral neuropathy may be damage to a single nerve. It may be damage to a nerve group. SITUATION: About 5 years ago it “Struck” my right hand leaving it unavailable for use. I wore a brace for about 6 months until the nerves ‘grew back together’. Fast forward to 8/13 and it ‘struck’ my ankle, hence the need for the brace I wore during the Fall of 2013. I was lucky as in I had a 4+ year ‘incubation period’. Around 1/14 I was able to remove the brace … OK so the “Shark Bite” story was actually NOT A SHARK BITE. I woke up one night, went to turn off lights and hit the side of the Great Room AC and ripped my leg open … SEE? A Shark bite sounds better! This was the onset of the ALMOST certainty of Back Surgery last year which WOULD have been pointless. This DISORDER is like a group of “BAD GUYS” that ATTACK an AREA, once the BODY ‘figures’ it out; it ‘regroups’ and attacks again. Hence the REASON I’m wearing a hand brace again. My Neurologist said, “ENOUGH is ENOUGH … you are going to MUSC or the MAYO CLINIC … you decide!” Well as limited ‘luck’ would have it my Daughter is dating a Research Dr. at MUSC … so the choice was easy. I FINALLY have an appointment at MUSC, June 25th … I WANT to figure out WHY I CONSTANTLY have to wear a brace. SO prayers if you read this far and thanks! I neglected to mention that last Saturday morning I fell ON the Bath Tub and “thought I broke 2 Ribs” … after X-Rays today I was told I (was worse) managed to TEAR ALL of the Ligaments that hold them together … Oh and I have Bronchitis to make things even “BETTER” … SO I’m a BUNDLE of FUN to be around right now … FAQ QUESTIONS? • No, I did not have a Stroke. • No, I don’t hurt, actually the opposite, I am numb in the area afflicted o Yes the RIBS hurt like hell … See LAST Paragraph and YOU will understand WHY • Yes! Absolutely it affects my work. I work with my hands and legs but my Boss, Steve has been VERY ACCOMODATING! • DO I HAVE FRIENDS?
