PRAYING AND ENCOURAGING THE BARREN TO PAY THE REQUIRED PRIZE FOR FRUITFULNESS (2) Thursday, 16 Elul, 5774 = Thursday, September 11, 2014 “And Abimelech took sheep, and oxen, and menservants, and womenservants, and gave them unto Abraham…So Abraham prayed unto God: and God healed Abimelech, and his wife, and his maidservants; and they bare children” (Genesis 20:14, 17). The sevenfold sacrificial offering that King Abimelech gave to Abraham activated grace which released the King’s realm from the scourge of barrenness. Abimelech gave a sevenfold offering to Abraham which consisted of: 1. Sheep 2. Oxen 3. Male Servants 4. Female Servants 5. A thousand pieces of silver 6. Land, and 7. Sarah, Abraham’s wife. As we pray that the barren will be fruitful, we must also encourage them to pay the price required for God to change their circumstances. The prices we must pray and encourage people to pay include: 1. ENTREATING AND INTERCEDING TO THE LORD FOR ONE’S SPOUSE: “And Isaac intreated the Lord for his wife, because she was barren: and the Lord was intreated of him, and Rebekah his wife conceived. And the children struggled together within her; and she said, if it be so, why am I thus? And she went to enquire of the Lord. And the Lord said unto her, two nations are in thy womb, and two manner of people shall be separated from thy bowels; and the one people shall be stronger than the other people; and the elder shall serve the younger” Genesis 25:21-23. 2. MAKING A VOW TO GIVE BACK WHATEVER SEED GOD GIVES YOU: “And she was in bitterness of soul, and prayed unto the Lord, and wept sore. And she vowed a vow, and said, O Lord of hosts, if thou wilt indeed look on the affliction of thine handmaid, and remember me, and not forget thine handmaid, but wilt give unto thine handmaid a man child, then I will give him unto the Lord all the days of his life, and there shall no razor come upon his head… And they rose up in the morning early, and worshipped before the Lord, and returned, and came to their house to Ramah: and Elkanah knew Hannah his wife; and the Lord remembered her. Wherefore it came to pass, when the time was come about after Hannah had conceived, that she bare a son, and called his name Samuel, saying, Because I have asked him of the Lord…And when she had weaned him, she took him up with her, with three bullocks, and one ephah of flour, and a bottle of wine, and brought him unto the house of the Lord in Shiloh: and the child was young. And they slew a bullock, and brought the child to Eli. And she said, Oh my lord, as thy soul liveth, my lord, I am the woman that stood by thee here, praying unto the Lord. For this child I prayed; and the Lord hath given me my petition which I asked of him: Therefore also I have lent him to the Lord; as long as he liveth he shall be lent to the Lord. And he worshipped the Lord there” 1 Samuel 1:10-11; 19-20; 24-28. 3. PROVIDING A SANCTUARY OF REFRESHMENT AND REST FOR A PROPHET IN TRANSIT: “And it fell on a day, that Elisha passed to Shunem, where was a great woman; and she constrained him to eat bread. And so it was, that as oft as he passed by, he turned in thither to eat bread. And she said unto her husband, Behold now, I perceive that this is a holy man of God, which passeth by us continually. Let us make a little chamber, I pray thee, on the wall; and let us set for him there a bed, and a table, and a stool, and a candlestick: and it shall be, when he cometh to us, that he shall turn in thither. And it fell on a day, that he came thither, and he turned into the chamber, and lay there. And he said to Gehazi his servant, Call this Shunammite. And when he had called her, she stood before him. And he said unto him, Say now unto her, Behold, thou hast been careful for us with all this care; what is to be done for thee? wouldest thou be spoken for to the king, or to the captain of the host? And she answered, I dwell among mine own people. And he said, what then is to be done for her? And Gehazi answered, verily she hath no child, and her husband is old…And he said, about this season, according to the time of life, thou shalt embrace a son. And she said, Nay, my lord, thou man of God, do not lie unto thine handmaid. And the woman conceived, and bare a son at that season that Elisha had said unto her, according to the time of life” 2 Kings 4:8-14; 16-17. KEY PRAYER FOCUS 1. APPROPRIATE THE WORD OF GOD THAT NONE SHALL BE BARREN IN GOD’S CAMP: “Thou shalt be blessed above all people: there shall not be male or female barren among you, or among your cattle” (Deuteronomy 7:14). 2. DECLARE THE MULTIPLICATION MANDATE OF GENESIS 1:28: “And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth” (Genesis 1:28).
