PREMIUM CABIN AWARD SEAT INVENTORY RELEASED FOR THE NEW SYDNEY – DALLAS / FORT WURTH A380 FLIGHTS FROM 29 SEP 2014 AND BEYOND The new Qantas Airways A380 services between Sydney Kingsford-Smith International Airport and Dallas / Fort Wurth International Airport commence on 29 Sep 2014. This new service is in effect a response to increasing financial pressures at the airline seeking to optimise capacity on its most profitable sectors. However, the new A380 service comes with the loss of the A380 service between Sydney and Hong Kong, China (qantasnewsroom.au/media-releases/qantas-customers-to-experience-world-class-a380-services-to-dallasfort-worth). This flight schedule change will introduce the third A380, non-stop, direct service to be introduced on the trans-Pacific market. Qantas currently flies the Airbus A380 between Sydney and California’s Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) as well as Melbourne and LAX. Qantas has finally released both economy and premium cabin Award Seats into its inventory for redemption two months out from the scheduled service to commence on what is likely to be a popular sector with Qantas Frequent Flyers and other frequent flyers from around the world. Premium cabin Award Seats have already been redeemed by frequent flyers for late Sep and early Oct. However, First Class Award Seats are available from Sydney, Australia to Dallas/Fort Wurth, USA from Nov 11, 2014. The Flight Doc’s First Class Frequent Flyer students wanting to redeem points/miles on this sector are advised to take action as soon as possible to allow you the best chance of securing an Award Seat in First, Business, or Premium Economy cabins. The best way to search and find available space is by logging in and using qantas to search for available Qantas and Partner Award seats. Award Seats on QF A380 services across the trans-Pacific sector have always remained tight. Within hours, sometimes minutes, Award Seat inventory on Qantas only A380 services between Sydney and Los Angeles are redeemed by frequent flyer somewhere around the world. The addition of this second service is likely to improve your chances of securing a premium cabin Award Seat on the popular trans-Pacific market. Sophisticated First Class Frequent Flyers are constantly on the search for efficiency to their flying, layovers, and transfers. This additional entry point to the United States will allow frequent flyers a chance to avoid the congestion of Los Angeles International Airport but will come with the loss of chance in using the newly rebuilt Qantas First Class Lounge anticipated to open in early 2015. The Flight Doc First Class Frequent Flyer students attending the 3-day Frequent Flyer Bootcamp (‘Conclave’) on 12-14 Dec 2014 at the Sydney Airport Rydges will learn how to secure these Qantas First Class A380 Award Seats and others for LESS THAN A QUARTER OF THE COST of the normal Qantas Frequent Flyer redemption rates. Details of the 3-day Frequent Flyer Bootcamp (‘Conclave’) and enrolment will only be available to attendees at the Frequent Flyer Forums being held around Australia throughout August and September. At this time the December event is almost 50% subscribed. Details of any remaining available tickets will be posted on the website theflightdoc by the end of September 2014. For those who unfortunately miss out on the opportunity to attend the Sydney Dec 2014 ‘Conclave’ we will be holding a second Australian event on 27-29 Mar, 2015 in Melbourne. Two events will be held in the United States and one in Europe in 2015 (dates to be confirmed).
