PRESIDENT KOROMA COMMISSIONED FIRST EBOLA TREATMENT CENTER By Abdulai Chernoh Sie His Excellency President Dr Ernest Bai Koroma has over the weekend commissioned the first Ebola Treatment Center in Makeni City in the Bombali District Northern Province constructed by Addax Bioenergy Sierra Leone Limited at Magbenteh, as the event took a colorful aspect from local authorities responding positively by the 21 days ultimatum given to them in reducing Ebola in their districts. The ceremony witness District Ebola Management team, Paramount Chiefs, medical personnel and other stakeholders on the 300,000 United States Dollars Ebola Treatment Center, as the company own contributions towards the fight against the Ebola General Manager of Addax Bioenergy Company Trevor Endres said the construction of the treatment center in Makeni is part of the company’s corporate social responsibility and to further create the willingness in ensuring it health environment are observed He further that they are working closely with the UNICEF, WHO and the Ministry of Health and Sanitation including other partners in the construction of 100 bed Ebola treatment Center, adding that the company intention is to protect it workers Endres maintained that the treatment center will be man by African Union Nurses and Doctors including some Sierra Leoneans, adding that the company has been in the four front in the fight against the Ebola especially in the north where they spent one million dollars so far on the Ebola response DMO Bombali District Dr Tom Sesay lauded the effort so far done by Addax Bioenergy Company since the outbreak of the Ebola Disease in the country, pointing that the new treatment center will help scale down the number of reported death cases and it will ease stress of taken people to Kenema or Kailahun He said the new treatment center is expected the start it full operations this week in the District and that 12 patients are expected to discharge from the holding center Co-Chair of case management on the Ebola Dr Alie Wurie the center will help in the transformation process of all cases relating to Ebola in Makeni and Bombali in general and also leads to the breakdown of transmission Dr Wurie maintained that the construction of treatment center in Makeni is in line with the president called for a robust plan of action in the eradication of the Ebola across the country, noting that this will meet with the time line pose by local authorities come December in the drop down of Ebola cases He said the treatment center is an international standard that will help in stream lining the fight and to help maintained the chain of transmission is cut down in the district, lauded the company’s effort in making the lives of people meaningful Paramount Chief Kasangah and the Mayor of Makeni City Council made a meaningful contribution
